About Linda Stiles Smith

Welcome to NatureScapes Studio!

I have been in love with nature my whole life. Memories of treks in the woods and walks on the beaches of the Great Lakes call to me and urge me to create from those experiences. My creative passion is fueled by collecting bits and pieces from the woods and shores to preserve and use as blueprints for my designs. Gathering this way supplies me with boxes of treasures and a child-like joy!! I combine that inspiration with the the colors and lighting captured in photos and drawings to create art that often speaks to others emotionally. By adding enlightening phrases and words to the designs my art reaches another level of connection for the owner.

Using my trained painter’s eye and incorporating natural elements into my designs I am able to feed my love of creating unique wearable art. This combination of visual and verbal transforms the art into a memento that the owner can carry with them. That same thought also directs me when making personal decorative art that ultimately commands a special place in the owners home and life. Bringing nature into everyones space can brighten their day and become a reminder of special times.

Every person sees and feels my art differently so I let the work speak to them instead of trying to explain it too much. Many are able to tap into that spark of creativity I experienced when I first encountered the beauty of nature. That shared feeling leads to the art becoming part of their story. Nature leads me on a journey thru the creative process to discover what art material will carry these feelings and sparks into existence. My reward is the many people who tell me that they purchased a piece of my work that spoke to them and two, five, ten years later it still holds a special meaning for them.

My goal is to share the joy I have in creating something that represents Gods creativity in the world and our lives. Lifting others up thru my work inspires me to continue working with color, clay and metals – and natural treasures! – and expand the designs to a variety of surfaces. We all have a creative spirit that can be nurtured in numerous ways. I want to continue to enable that with my nature inspired art.

My love affaire with nature and artistic expression will never end.
