Fine Jewelry Handling Tips

*Fine Silver is brighter than sterling silver and takes longer to dull or tarnish. I have found that wearing the jewelry is the best way to keep it tarnish free!

However tarnish is dependent on the amount of sulfa in the atmosphere and some people have more in their bodies than others. All this means is that you may or may not see your silver dull over time as it is a natural process.

SO gently polishing only the high shiny areas will restore the shine and using ONLY the Sunshine Polishing Cloth adds a protective coating to the silver. Storing in plastic zip bags will keep the pieces shiny longer. Some silver pieces have been coated with an industrial sealer to protect any color or patina that has been created on the silver.

Do not use caustic jewelry cleaners on colored treated fine silver or it will destroy the finish and can’t be replaced.

*This Sintered Fine Silver is also softer than sterling silver. Normal wear and storage will not harm the pieces as they are designed and constructed to be worn. Do not attempt to reshape pieces or they could break. They cannot easily be repaired if at all. Please contact me for assistance.

*Polymer Clay pieces can be slightly flexible as is the nature of the vinyl material used. Just like Silver Clay pieces Do not attempt to reshape or bend to the breaking point. Any pieces that are hand painted have been sealed to preserve the color and finish, but do not scratch the surface. Careful handling and wearing will assure that it lasts forever. Broken pieces cannot be easily repaired to its original state so contact me for assistance determining the way forward.

*Viking Knit is made from a fine gauge of wire and reduced and smoothed to the shape you see. Do not kink or bend the cord and be careful not to crush it. It cannot be fixed and would need to be replaced at your expense.

*Findings and parts on most of the jewelry are hand made and may appear as ‘flawed’. This gives the jewelry an artistic uniqueness that is not present on mass produced jewelry. It is the hallmark of one-of-a-kind art and should be celebrated as such. No two similar designs will be exactly alike. I am unable to exactly recreate or change any feature of the jewelry in the collection. However, it may be possible to alter or remake similar items for a custom fee if asked.

REJOICE! Although it may sound like this jewelry is fragile, it is not. I have had customers who wear their LSS jewelry in the shower with no problems. I don’t recommend doing that! Do not expose any jewelry to pool chemicals or sea water. Once someone understands the nature of what they are purchasing I find there is a greater respect for the material and the quality of owning a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art. ENJOY!
