Children, Youth, and Family.

Welcome to Children, Youth, and Family. Ministry!

At Messiah we believe that parents are primary in passing on faith to their children. As a church, we strive to support, equip, and champion parents in this endeavor! We welcome children of all ages with open arms. We strive to have a wide variety of activities for youth of all ages to participate in. We also encourage youth to walk daily in their faith by teaching them about Faith 5.

We believe in building relationships with each other and with God. In connecting church to home, faith to life, and parents to kids in a powerful way. We belive in equiping our families to achieve this through Faith 5.
Faith 5 is a tool to help parents and kids have easy conversations around what happened in their life.  We are asking each family to try and start this nightly ritual in their home.  Here are the steps:
  1. Share your highs and lows:  how was your day?  What went well?  What didn’t
  2. Read a story:  we suggest you read the story that was taught the previous Sunday. WE will have these in our weekly emails.
  3. Talk about how the reading/theme relate to your highs and lows for the day or to your life in general.
  4. Pray:  pray for each other.  Share what prayer requests you have and then have someone close you in prayer.
  5. Bless:  Take a moment to bless each other by saying things like, “God loves you”, “You are a child of God”, “You are a blessing from God, go be a blessing to others”.  As you say these words, make the sign of the cross on the persons forehead.
By adding this simple routine to your family’s nightly routine will help everyone to know they are important and that you care about how their days went.  We are also using Faith 5 to structure all of our curriculum for KidsKonnect, Middle School, High School, and Life Groups.  Hope you will join us in trying this out (even if you don’t have kids).

Family Events

Families are so important in the lives of our children and many times we don’t get a lot of time to spend together having fun or serving in our community. Messiah has many family events throughout the year for families to both participate in and to volunteer to work at. It is a great opportunity for families to do service projects together.

JOURNEY TO THE CROSS: Ever wondered what it might be like the last week with Jesus? Come experience it for yourself! Journey to the Cross is an interactive, self-guided tour through Jesus’ last week. Imagine what life was like during this miraculous time in history as  you get your hands washed, and smash some olives, taste the foods of the Passover Festival, experience the tomb, and listen to the storyteller recount Jesus’ last week. Juice and cookies provided. Journey to the Cross is on Journey To Cross is on the Saturday before Easter from 10:00-12:00 pm (weather permitting). All Ages are welcome! The event is free!

CAMP HOPE: Camp Hope is our three week camp for children who have completed kindergarten through 6th grade.  (You may sign up for one, two, or all three weeks.)  It is an adult mentored student led ministry.  Each day, children will hear a new Bible story; connect that story to their life by creating a craft, eating a snack, playing a game, and experiencing the story through expressive arts and worship.

NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM: Night in Bethlehem is a great family event that Messiah does for our community. Our field gets turned into the village of Bethlehem were Jesus was born. It is an interactive way for children of all ages to see Jesus birth. It is the first weekend in December on both Saturday and Sunday. They always need volunteers of all ages to help be different characters in the village, help with set up or take down, or help in the parking lot. If you would like to volunteer make sure to sign up to help.  Night in Bethlehem is on the First weekend in December (weather permitting).  All Ages are welcome!  The event is free!
