Who We Are!
Jalwiny Development Initiative (JDI) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that began as a grassroots effort to address the socio-economic challenges faced by its community. Formed in 2015 by a small group of committed local members, JDI started as a Community Based Organization (CBO). Our goal was to tackle critical issues affecting our communities, in areas such as health, education, human rights, and the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). Additionally, we sought to promote good agricultural practices and environmental management in response to the growing socio-economic and environmental concerns in our region.
Initially registered with the Zeu Sub County Local Government and later with Zombo District Local Government in 2017, JDI steadily expanded its reach and impact. In 2022, JDI was formally incorporated through the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), marking a significant step in our organizational development. By 2024, JDI had achieved registration with the national NGO Bureau, positioning itself to operate at a national level across Uganda.
JDI’s overarching mission is to improve the quality of life in our rural communities, particularly for our most vulnerable populations. Our work focuses on poverty reduction, enhancing access to health and education, advocating against human rights abuses, and addressing environmental challenges such as land degradation and climate change. JDI also provides psycho-social support, especially for orphans and vulnerable children, ensuring that these marginalized groups receive the care and assistance they need. Through a holistic approach, with JDI, we strive to build a more equitable and sustainable future for the communities we serve.
