ALLYING for INDIGENOUS RIGHTS
Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week
Co-Producer
Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week 2017 launched a global ecosystem daylighting the verve, resilience and spirit of modern Indigenous regalia, identity and creative arts into national and international spotlights.
“You’ve changed the game,” said national Indigenous matriarchs, as we led the wave of Indigenous fashion taking centre stage and claiming identity across the world.
Creator and Executive Director Joleen Mitton asked me to Co-Produce based on our work together on the Restoring Collective. As VIFW Co-Producer, I collaborated with Joleen to create a stage for this high Indigenous art where story, identity and relationship mashup are worn, literally, on your sleeve. I coached external partners on how to collaborate ‘in a good way,’ and set the container with the team for grounded transformative leadership and mentoring. Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week continues to set international stages for this merging ground of identity, art, and enterprise.
