ABOUT DAVID
“Build a Better Pinellas.
Build a Better Future!”
David Glenn Jr. is not a career politician. He has worked hard all his life to achieve his goals and aspirations. Like many of you, he has a mortgage, drives an older car, and does his own laundry and shopping. As your next Pinellas County Commissioner, David will share his ideas and work with others to implement the innovative plans outlined below. Some of these strategies include investment in our community through land development initiatives that will allow our property tax base to be increased while keeping the revenues in Pinellas County for the benefit of Pinellas County residents, increased investment in local and County services such as public transit, parks & recreation, library services, building& zoning, animal rescue, adoption and rehabilitation services, affordable housing for teachers, first responders, and veterans and the creation of a “Nuisance Ordinance” to assist in the elimination of problem properties.
In 1987, David moved from Connecticut to Florida, fresh out of high school. He moved to Pinellas County in 2000, shortly after finishing his master’s degree at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa where he earned an MA in Architecture. David previously attended Hillsborough Community College (HCC) in Tampa to earn his associate in arts degree. He then travelled to Tallahassee where he earned two degrees at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), a Bachelor of Science degree and a professional bachelor’s in architecture degree.
After graduating from USF, David continued up the advancement ladder in the architectural industry, working on local and national architectural projects until getting his State Architect’s licensure in 2006. Somewhere in the middle, he was married for close to 16 years and has helped to co-parent two fine young, adult children. He has seen the architectural and construction industry rise and fall several times. After each fall, he picked himself up and continued his success. In 2008, he started his own architectural firm after one downturn in 2009 and still operates it today.
David has frequently volunteered his time with many civic organizations. He served several years on a PSTA transit advisory committee, helping to make the transit experience better for all users. He frequently volunteered as a historical docent at Heritage Village, a hidden jewel amongst our Pinellas County parks. You would find him dressed in his best 1800’s clothing, sitting on a porch or veranda, telling people stories about many of the Village’s historic architectural buildings and their past family histories. Lately, he has served as a Secretary/Treasurer for a non-profit, Adult LEGO group that creates large artistic displays made out of the classic plastic bricks that everyone has grown up with. These are displayed all over the State of Florida to further the hobby and enjoyment to adults and children.
